About Solar PV

Solar PV is an incredibly effective way of saving money on your energy bills and at the same time as reducing your carbon footprint.

With equipment costs more affordable than ever, coupled with the governments Feed In Tariff Scheme, solar PV installations are sound investment for those wanting to save on their electricity bills and reduce their carbon foot print.

What is Solar PV

Solar photovoltaics (PV) capture energy from the sun, using photovoltaic cells. These cells are combined together to form a solar panel, which are mounted on a roof or the ground. These cells don’t need direct sunlight to work; they can still generate electricity on a cloudy day. The cells convert the sunlight into electricity, which can be used to provide electrical power for your property. Once you have a solar PV system installed on your property, there are no further costs to generate your own electricity.

This means you can:

  • Savings on your electricity bills
  • Get paid for the power you produce
  • Cut your carbon footprint by over a tonne of CO2 per year

Solar PV for your home

A typical domestic Solar PV system consists of three major components:

  1. The Solar Panel
  2. The Inverter
  3. The Roof Mounting System

These components play a major role in allowing the system to perform at its optimum performance and be safe in operation.

“I was extremely pleased with the friendly, flexible and professional service that your company provided me. Our Solar PV installation was not a typical run of the mill installation… We needed a system installing on a listed building which we knew would require experts to design.”

“A bespoke tailored installation was designed and installed, that was sympathetic to my property at a maximum system size which supplemented my ground source heating requirements.”

” They were extremely thorough and talked me through the whole process from installation to completion over 3 separate visits.”

How it works

Solar Photovoltaic (PV) panels convert the suns energy during daylight hours to direct current (DC) electricity.

An inverter converts the DC electricity to alternating current (AC) electricity for use in your home.

A PV generation meter that records PV generated.

Feed in Tariff (FIT)

The government Feed in Tariff (FIT) scheme was launched as an incentive scheme to encourage and payback people who invested in Solar PV. It pays back over a 20 year period, at set rate for every Kilowatt Hour (KWH) of electricity generated and exported back to the grid.

The feed in tariff rate you receive depends on when your join the scheme, your Solar PV system size, and the EPC (Energy Performance Certificate rating your property has.

Solar PV – Frequently Asked Questions

How long does a typical installation take?

A typical installation takes a day; we discuss and agree all aspect of the installation with you, to ensure that you know what will happen on installation day.

Are you an MSC accredited installer

Yes – We have MSC accreditation.

What is an inverter

The inverter converts the solar electrical from DC current is to AC current (alternating), which is then supplied to your mains supply for use in your home.

This power could be used by lights, fridges, in fact any electrical appliance you have on at the time.

What other ways can I save money using my Solar PV system?

You can add battery systems and power diverters to your solar installation.

Battery systems store the energy your solar installation produces, for you to use at other times, such as night.

Power diverters use the energy produced elsewhere in your home, such as creating hot water from the solar energy produced.

How can I monitor the energy produced by my solar system?

You can purchase an energy monitoring system from us as the point of installation.

There are several products on the market that allow you to monitor your solar system output, from a simple wall mounted generation meter (which is included in the price of your installation) to Wi-Fi monitors you can place anywhere in your home.
